History of Neilston Homes
It was Neilston’s Financial Director, Robyn Neil, whose father founded Neil Housing company. During the 1950s and 60s, Ron Neil and his company built an astonishing number of quality, comfortable, affordable homes in Auckland – one thousand each year. Ron’s mission was to provide quality homes to first-home buyers, and it’s the same ethos behind the Neilston Group and Neilston Homes.
“We’ve taken the practical thinking Ron had in the ‘60s and applied it to a new style of living,” says Tony. “Neilston homes are a similar size to the houses Ron built – three-bedrooms, one bathroom – because that still works, but we’ve added a second toilet and increased the indoor-outdoor flow. Right from the start, our philosophy has been to emulate Robyn’s father, bringing quality, affordable homes to first-home buyers.”
